Finally, it came out that this is not a problem of the ByD-architecture, but that it was just a coding error in another add on-solution on the same tenant.
Interestingly, this error came from another add on-solution provided by SAP which coincidentally extended the same BO and the same BeforeSave-event. Took some time and incident communication to get that figured out
