Sure! Here's an example:
We are in the United States. We want to order Product A from a supplier in Japan. Product A has a lead time of 60 days. Once the product is ready in Japan, it takes 10 days to get it through customs in Japan, across the ocean, through customs in the United States, and to our warehouse. Those 10 days are not accounted for by SAP and are not reflected in the "Due Date" on our Purchase Order to the supplier.
Need 100 units of Product A on 1 June.
SAP creates Purchase Proposal to order 100 units on 1 April with due date 1 June.
If we order Product A like this, the 100 units will be ready in Japan on 1 June but will not get to us for another 10 days (11 June) due to customs and shipping time.
What we want the system to do:
Need 100 units of Product A on 1 June.
SAP creates Purchase Proposal to order 100 units on 22 March with due date of 22 May. The product would then be ready at our supplier 10 days before we need it in our warehouse so that we could ship it to the United States for arrival on 1 June.
Thanks for any help!
