Production and spare parts

Hi,

I started working with SAP and I’ve a question about the production process.

Is it possible to work with spare parts during the production?

For example:

I’d like to produce a measurement system. This system contains a PC. The PC is part of the BOM and listen with a serial number in the material list for this production. During production I found out that the PC is not working. How can I change the PC (PC with new serial number) to finalize the production? Is there a possibility to start a RMA process? What are the recommended steps to solve this problem?
