First of all, there are two ALD versions available.

1. ALD browser plugin. you need to install this to work in browser. But this is not user friendly (at least for me).
2. Full version of ALD. You need to download the template and work offline.

Can you tell me what error message you get while opening the downloaded template?

Have you downloaded ALD from ByDesign Download Center?

After downloading the template, you need to extract the zip file and open the *.xdp file using ALD. Initially, open by right clicking the *.xdp file --> open with --> other programs --> FormDesigner.exe
